Spring Animal Nails With Model City Polish

I know Easter was a while ago but it's still spring so let's do a cute springy mani.

The color I'm using today is Jasmine by Model City Polish, a light turquoise holo polish.

I started with 2 coats of Jasmine followed by 1 coat of Glisten & Glow HK girl topcoat. Once dried I applied a nail decal on each nail then sealed it with 1 coat of HK girl topcoat.
I'm happy with how it came out but I have a question for everyone. Does this look like Easter nails or spring nails? That's the big debate when I was wearing this mani.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Jasmine is currently availible at Model City Polish Etsy Shop

Diamond Nail Art with 77 Lacquer & Top Shelf Lacquer

Today I feel is an accomplishment. It's the first time I've worn my 77 Lacquer polish without any of the other colors it came with! I own 2 right now, 1 from the New Years Eve Duo & 1 from the April Nailed it! Nai art kit.

The colors I'm using today are Rainy Day Parade by 77 Lacquer, a baby blue creme polish
Pink Flamingo by Top Shelf Lacquer, a bright pink creme with gold flakes.
I started with 2 coats of Pink Flamigo followed by 1 coat of Sally Hansen Instadry. Once dried I applied a diamond stencil from Toadarrific Vinyls & applied 2 coats of Rainy Day Parade. Finally I removed the stencil & applied 1 more coat of Instadry.
So as you can see the bottom diamond is slightly black. Turns out that diamond was still stuck on the stencil! But overall I'm very please with how this turned out. And both polishes worked great together too.
Pink Flamigo is availible at  Top Shelf Lacquer.com

Rainy Day Parade is currently not availible :( but be sure to check out 77 Lacquers other colors at Seventy Seven Lacquer.com

Meet The Blogger: Meet Millie Of The Nail Smith

It's Tuesday so you all know what that mean"drumroll please"
It's time for Meet The Blogger!!!!!!!
Today's Blogger is Millie fromThe Nail Smith

What made you start a blog?

I started my blog because as I grew to love doing nail art, my friends encouraged me to share my creations with the world. First I was just on Tumblr, but now I have a Blogspot account, an Instagram, and a Facebook page as well!

How long have you been blogging?

I started doing nail art as a hobby when I was a sophomore in college (2011) and started my first blog on Tumblr in mid-2012.
What makes your blog unique?

I like to think I have a fairly classy but quirky style. I do everything from stamping nail art to freehand, from super sparkly and bright to vampy and moody. So chances are if one of my posts isn't to your liking, the next one might be! I've got a little something for everyone!

What's your favorite part to having a blog?

My favorite part of having a blog is being able to express my creativity to a larger audience. Sure, I might not have many followers, but every little comment or like lets me know that that person took a moment out of their day to appreciate what I've done. And I think that is pretty special.

Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?

Yes! I had never used water decals before I was sent some by Born Pretty Store to review last year. Now I have a huge collection of them and they're so easy to use that I think everyone should have some in their nail art supplies!
What would you say is the downside of blogging?

I guess the biggest downside or difficulty with blogging for me is finding the time. There are some lucky people who blog as a full-time job, but the rest of us usually have to squeeze it into our free-time. For me, the entire process of taking pictures, editing them (for cropping and color accuracy, at the most), and writing the post itself takes at least 3 hours minimum, and that doesn't include doing the nail art itself! But I still love doing it and try to make time to post at least once a week.

Do you have a least favorite post?

I would have to say that these opal nails I tried to do (http://the-nail-smith.blogspot.com/2015/06/opal-fail-nails.html) are by far my least favorite ones that I shared. Even after redoing them like 3 times, they still never turned out like I wanted and I ended up taking them off immediately after taking pictures of them!

What is something you have to have while writing a blog post? Examples music, watching netflicks, drinking tea ect.

One thing I have to have while I'm writing posts or editing pictures is some good music (thanks, Spotify!). I get too distracted by visual things like Netflix or YouTube so I just stick to some relaxing instrumental music while I'm writing.

Do you think your blog has changed over the years?

I think my blog has definitely grown since I started. I feel more comfortable posting only what I want to post and not just whatever is popular. And I think the quality of my photography and my writing have both greatly improved, even in the last year alone.

Are you married? Do you have any kids and/or pets?

I'm not married but I have a wonderful boyfriend who lives a few hours away from me. I currently have two pets. One is a red-ear slider turtle named Schnappy, whom I've had since junior high. And his tankmate, Lunch, a feeder fish that started out about 1.5" long and is now a monstrous 4.5" long! It's a strange relationship, but I guess it works for them!

Any advice for new bloggers?

My advice for new bloggers is this: Don't worry about what other people think. Post about what makes YOU happy. Otherwise it becomes a chore to blog and that's just no fun at all!

The colors I used today are Glisten & Glow OG Snowman, a greyish blue creme polish.

And Turtle Tootsie Polishes Pink Bracelets, a pink glitter topper polish.
I used 1 coat of OG Snowman followed by Sally Hansen Instadry. Once dried I applied 2 coats of Pink Bracelets except on my accent finger, on my accent finger I applied 2 coats of Easter Egg Hunt. Lastly, I applied 1 more coat of Instadry.
I'm so pleased with how well this came out! So sparkly & shiny I could stare at my nails all day.

Anchor & Hearts Lacquer The Pink Accident & Top Shelf Lacquer Blue HawaiianNail Art

Isn't it neat when you have an idea for nail art do it, it doesn't come out the way you hoped yet it still looks good. That's exactly what happened with this mani.

Today's colors are A Pink Accident by Anchor & Hearts Lacquer, a light pink creme with scattered gold holo  & Blue Hawiian by Top Shelf Lacquer, a turquoise blue creme with gold flakes.

So I started off by using 2 coats of A Pink Accident on 3 fingers & 2 coats of Blue Hawiian in 1 finger followed by Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat. Once dried I applied 2 V-tip decals by Toadarrific Vinyls followed by 1 coat of Blue Hawaiin. Lastly I applied 1 more coat of HK girl topcoat on my accent finger to seal it.
I know it looks like a baby shower mani right? It's so not the look I was going for but it did come out looking super cute.

So bad new is both colors are no longer available:( but be sure to check out Top Shelf Lacquer.com & Anchor & Hearts Lacquer Etsy Shop to see all the amazing colors they have to offer.

Meet The Blogger: Meet Dina Of Secretary's Nail Art

Yay!!!!! It's Tuesday, so you know what that means? It's time for Meet The Blogger!!!!
Today's Blogger is Dina from Secretary's Nail Art

What make you start a blog?
After having spent hours on doing my nails, I started taking pictures of my progress to share on facebook with friends and family. Never having been a girly-girl growing up I was fascinated over the fact that this had become a hobby of mine.
Back then I used to work as a Secretary and I needed to look the part.
The pencil skirt, hair in a bun, and now… the nails.
The day I did the company logo on my nails, my boss was wondering if I had a blog, and that if I didn’t I should make one.
Couple of weeks later on a vacation in Spain, surfing on the little laptop I had brought with me, I took the leap and made a blog. Aptly named Secretary’s Nail Art.
How long have you been blogging?
I am swiftly approaching my 4th year anniversary, and started the blog June 2012.
What would you say makes your blog unique?
Being a professional Secretary is about analyzing, deconstructing and interpret data, and I suppose this shines through on my blog.
One of my other hobbies is programming, small stuff as I am not all that great in it yet, but I have spent hours on the visual aspect of the blog with coding a dropdrown menu and embedding a photo gallery using Pinterest.
Hope that is something my viewers will appreciate.
Have you ever reviewed a product that has become something you use all the time?
The products I have had sent for reviews have mostly been waterdecals, stickers and stamping plates, but the thing I have loved the most, and used so many times since I received it, is my squishy marshmallow stamper. Those things are pretty awesome.
What would you say is the downside of blogging?
It is extremely time consuming. When I was unemployed I discovered just how much time you can spend on all of this, and you have to be good at time management in order to get stuff done.
 Running a one-woman-show takes dedication.
You are not just the nail artist; you are the photographer, the programmer, the writer, the editor, publisher, the whole team.
Are you married?
No, and not sure I ever will be.
Do you have any kids and/or pets?
No, I have been travelling around a lot the past 4 years, so it’s been impossible to have pets. This is actually the longest I have stayed in one place since I left Norway. If I got a good enough job that I knew I could settle down with I would get a cat straight away.
When you aren't blogging what are you most likely doing?
If I am not on the computer playing games you will most likely find me in the kitchen cooking or baking something. I was raised in a very traditional home and learned a lot about running a household, but the things that I loved the most was sitting in the kitchen with a cuppa and make cakes and chat with my grandma.
Is there a blogger that you look up to/admire?
There are many bloggers I could mention here, but perhaps the most important one is Lacquer Or Leave Her! She started at the same time as me, and we have chatted together for hours and hours and grown together as bloggers. When I moved to Northern Ireland she made me a custom polish that she named: Irish Rain, it sits in a Plexiglas box on display in my nail cave.
What is your least favorite product to blog about?
I am not sure; I think that would have to be base and topcoats. That thing rely heavily on body chemistry, and depends on other products used alongside it, to work well for people.
Any advice for new bloggers?
Don’t take the naming of the blog lightly. I have heard so many people complain about the name of their blog after a year or two. Be sure that you absolutely love it, before you make that blog.
Don’t compare your blogging journey with others, we are all different.
Don’t lose sight of why you are blogging.
Write down your blogging goals, be it to make one post a week or four. Every 6 months look back at those goals, are they still your goals?

Blocked Nail Stamping With Katherine Of ProcrastiNails

Mondays are going to be crazy for me right now. So I've asked a few bloggers to come guest post for next couple of Mondays.  Today's Guest blogger is Katherine of ProcrastiNails. Take it away Katherine!
Hi all! I'm Katherine from ProcrastiNails and today I'm guest posting for the lovely Ann. :) I put together a blocked stamping look to share with you that uses bold shapes and colours and I really hope you like it!

To create this look I started with a base of OPI Super Cute in Pink from the Hello Kitty Collection, and then made stamping decals with Konad Dark Blue Stamping Polish and plate BP31 from Born Pretty Store. I filled in the design with Sinful Colors Snow Me White and did a little bit of detailing with the gorgeous blue holo Color Club Angel Kiss. When it was all dry I peeled the decal up, cut it into the shape I wanted and applied it to the nail with top coat. I finished it off with a line of the stamping polish along the edge to make it look a little more polished.

Look at that glimpse of holo! So pretty!
I really really adore how this design turned out, even if it smudged a wee bit when I applied the top coat (note to self - let art dry fully before applying top coat!!). I think if I did it again I would put decals on each of the nails instead of just the two, but even with the two I think this is a very striking look!

That's it from me! I'd love to hear from you, so come visit me on my blog, facebook, instagram or twitter and say 'hi!' :) And thanks Ann, for letting me share with your readers today! xx

Thanks so much Katherine! Be sure to check out her blog & social media pages.

#TeamBrittni Mani

Today's post is a little different than most post. A person actually inspired today's mani. But before I talk about the mani let's talk about #TeamBrittni & who is Brittni.

Brittni Clements was your tipical 20 something year who was living life to the fullest. She had a great job at Walt Disney World, a great boyfriend, everything perfect. Then on February 10,2016 Brittni was diagnosed with leukemia. She went from not feeling when to starting chemo the very next day.  But Brittni is a trooper, she hasn't complained once & is still the happy woman everyone knows & loves. Her father CJ, is a radio Dj in my hometown. So when he left everyone was wondering what's going on? When it was announced that Brittni had leukemia the community has come togther to show support for the Clements family.
This week will be hard for the Clements Family, Brittni will be starting another around of chemo but this time her family won't be there. So please everyone keep them all in your thoughts & prayers this week.

So here's my way of showing support, thru nail polish:)
I used Model City Polish Glowing Embers & Turtle Tootsie Polish Fighter Aka Fight Like A Girl.
Your probably wondering why these colors? Surely you could pick better colors?
Well, it turns out that orange is the color of leukemia, like pink is the color of breast cancer. And I picked Fighter Aka Fight Like A Girl because that the slogan for #TeamBrittni.

I used 2 coats of each plus 1 coat of Glisten & Glow HK Girl Topcoat.
I had to show this for obvious reason:)

How you can help:
Like many people fighting cancer it can be costly. CJ, Brittni's dad has already said her medical bills are currently over 1 million dollars and that's in less than 2 months.
Spana-Acadiana.org is selling hats, shirts keys chains & more with all proceeds going to Brittni & her family.

NOLA TshirtClub.com is selling T-shirts with the proceeds going to Brittni & her familh as well.

Go Fund Me.com<  This is the Offcial go fund me page set up for Brittni.

To follow Brittni progress follow her Dad CJ's

Model city Glowing Embers is available at Model City Polish Etsy Shop

Turtle Tootsie Polish is currently on clearance at Turtle Tootsie Polishes .com
